Meet Tom, born in Osorno, Chile, Tom arrived in New Zealand at age 14 and grew up in the heart of Hamilton. While he is proud of his South American roots and remains fluent in Spanish, Tom is a Waikato local through and through. 

Tom’s career has always centred on his greatest passion: people. Before finding his calling in finance, he spent 12 years in hospitality management—sharpening his skills as a hotel and bar manager—followed by five years in tertiary education. This background makes Tom a natural communicator who thrives on making complex information easy to digest. 

The turning point in Tom’s career came after a meeting with Quantum’s Lincoln Davie. Originally considering real estate, that conversation shifted Tom’s perspective toward the impact he could make as a financial adviser. Seeing the opportunity to help Kiwis bridge the gap in financial literacy, Tom completed his studies and joined the Quantum family. “I feel that New Zealanders’ financial wellbeing is often impacted by a simple lack of know-how. I’d love to see more focus on this in schools, but in the meantime, I’m here to be that bridge for my clients.” 

Tom practices what he preaches; after receiving advice to boost his own KiwiSaver years ago, he is now preparing to step onto the property ladder himself within the next year. He understands the journey because he is living it. 

When he isn’t helping clients navigate the mortgage world, Tom is likely hiking, fishing, or indulging his inner "foodie" by creating new cocktail flavours for family and friends. While he is based in the Waikato, Tom is more than happy to travel across the region—or even as far as Christchurch to visit his brother—to ensure his clients get the service they deserve.
